Emesent: Getac V110 convertible notebook from Getac
Getac’s V110 fully rugged convertible laptop helps Emesent, a developer of drone mapping and autonomy, provide a comprehensive solution for mapping unexplored territory in underground mines.
Challenge
Emesent was founded in November 2018 with the purpose of providing efficiency, safety and operational insights in the challenging environments of underground mines. Hovermap, the company’s intelligent mobile scanning unit, can be installed on drones or used handheld for autonomous light and distance sensing (LiDAR) mapping and data capture. In order to provide mining companies with a complete solution, Emesent needed a device capable of withstanding the extreme conditions in the mines and complement Hovermap and the drone. Given the difficult working conditions in underground mines, this device had to be robust enough to withstand extreme environments, and compact enough to be easily transported.
Solution
Emesent found the perfect solution in the Getac V110. This robust device can be used as a drone control platform thanks to its various functions. It can be easily transformed from a laptop to a tablet, depending on where and when it is used. Additionally, it weighs 2.1 kg and measures 39 mm, making it compact and light enough for users to carry without much effort. Additionally, the V110 is constructed from a high-quality magnesium alloy, with advanced robust polymer in low-impact areas and rubber-absorbing polymer at major contact points to protect the device from drops. This fully rugged, convertible device features a hot-swappable dual battery for uninterrupted battery life. In addition to the essential features, the Getac V110 includes a large waterproof membrane keyboard with red backlight that allows the user to type accurately even in the dimmest light. This excellent portable notebook also includes flash storage and high-resolution graphics.}
Benefit
With Getac’s V110, Emesent was able to provide mining companies with a robust device that could complement their product in harsh environments. One of the particularly useful features was its ability to convert from laptop to tablet, making it easy to switch between these functions in the field. Mining technicians also value its ability to withstand drops, dust, moisture, and other extreme conditions in underground environments. This fully rugged, convertible device also features a unique hot-swappable dual-battery design that allows for long, reliable battery life, with no need to recharge between changes, which is more convenient for a mining crew that spends long hours on the job. leaf.
Testimony
“Workplace safety and operational hazards are important issues for mining companies, so we want to provide them with a comprehensive solution that not only allows them to operate, but also improves their efficiency seamlessly. Difficult mining conditions made us look for a device that was robust enough and capable of complementing our smart mobile scanning unit, which is why we selected Getac’s V110. This device can be converted from a notebook to a tablet, giving users the flexibility of both options. In addition, we value its hot-swappable dual battery that allows users to process LiDAR data underground, even when they don’t have access to electricity.”
